Is Your Site a Favorite?

We all have those sites we visit often to catch up on the latest news, drop a note to a friend or shop online. Because these sites are visited regularly, we either know the address by memory or have taken the time to bookmark the site in our browser; commonly referred to as "favorites." The question is, does your web site prompt the user to bookmark your site? If not, you may be missing a prime opportunity to increase traffic. There a several ways to accomplish this reminder. The easiest way is to place link on your home page that displays something like, "Save to Favorites" or "Bookmark." You can also place a graphic like the star to the right that prompts users to do this same thing. You can also have a special function programmed that will allow users to bookmark based on the type of browser being used. Keep in mind, having a user save your site is more effective if they have a reason to come back! Think you don't have anything to post? Thank again. Chances are, you have something to promote and haven't realized it yet.

Sign Here Please

Most of us take the time to sign our emails with our name. Some take the time to add a phone number or address. So what should you be placing in your signature? Best practices for email signatures should include your name, mailing and physical address, phone, fax as well as a link to your web address. Email has a way of being forwarded and distributed, so you can increase your chances of exposure by including this information in each email you send out. Think of it as free advertising! However, don't place information in your signature that you don't want publicized. You may want to put your cell phone in your signature, you may not. If you're not sure, just put what information that can be found in your local phone book. In any case, just be sure your web site address is included because who knows what might generate a lead or sale for you.
